Active Piano for Kindergarten is tailored to child-development, offering a joyful start to music based in movement, creativity and hands-on tools.
Do you want your child
to experience the joy of music—
without adding another
afterschool commitment?
Amy Wood’s weekly, 30-minute one-on-one piano lessons are designed especially for young beginners and take place during their Adventurers day at the Triwood Community Centre or at Amy's home studio.
These unique piano lessons are playful, creative, and movement-based, using hands-on tools like coloured hand bells, a floor keyboard, and improvisation activities. Children begin to play short songs, play piano creatively and read the musical staff in a way that feels natural, engaging, and fun. Amy Wood’s unique child-centred philosophy is inspired by Montessori, RCM & Orff methods, informed by 2 decades of teaching piano, performing and creating music and is honed by the daily rhythm of raising two busy boys.
This approach is ideal for families who want:
-
A musical foundation, learned through play
-
A developmentally just right approach for kinders
-
To foster their child’s musical creativity
-
An enriching activity without sacrificing evening or weekend time
Each lesson is personalized
to your child’s pace and personality;
building confidence, curiosity
and a lifelong love of music.
PRACTICE: Practice recommendation is minimal but powerful. Setting aside a few minutes at the same time every day where your child can independently play what they remember. That’s it. It’s remarkable how this daily habit leads to confidence and curiosity over time at the piano. I suggest a practice sandwich (something fun/piano/something fun) for example; snack/piano/playtime. Please don't be concerned about wrong notes or not playing every song or exercise each day. Time at the piano is all that's needed for this intro year.
TRIWOOD WEEKLY LESSONS: Students will be greeted by Ms Wood and brought to the Active Piano space in the Triwood Community centre for their 30 minute lesson and returned to the program afterwards. Parents will confirm that Amy Wood is on their pick-up list to authorize this individual lesson time outside of the Adventurers space, still in the Triwood Community Centre.
Give your child the gift of just-right music lessons
